Green Delta Insurance PLC and BRAC Bank PLC TARA recently joined hands to organize a breast cancer awareness event titled “Rising Above Fear”, dedicated to shedding light on screening, early detection and mental well-being of women.
A very important session on self-check and detection was conducted by Dr. Afrin Sultana, Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon and Breast Cancer Specialist. Also a soothing mental health session was conducted by Mehtab Khanam, Psychotherapist and Honorary Professor, University of Dhaka; who emphasized the importance of both physical and mental health in the journey of cancer prevention and recovery.
A thought-provoking panel discussion followed, featuring Dr. Habibullah Talukdar, Cancer Epidemiologist and Preventive Oncologist, Najmus Ahmed, Founder, BANCAT, and Shamarukh Fakhruddin, Director, Urmi Group. The panel highlighted the power of awareness, support systems, and community initiatives in fighting the stigma around breast cancer.
In recognition of their remarkable contributions and resilience, Cancer Activist Awards were presented to Dr. Habibullah Talukdar, Cancer Epidemiologist and Preventive Oncologist; Mehzabin Ferdous, General Secretary, BANCAT and Nuzhat Tarannum, Founder, TishCan & a Breast Cancer Survivor.
The event was graced by the presence of Sadaf Nasir, Head of Brands, Green Delta Insurance PLC; Mr. Sheikh Mohammad Ashfaque, DMD and Head of Branch Distribution Network, BRAC Bank and Mehruba Reza, Head of TARA, Agami and Premium Banking Segment, Retail Banking, BRAC Bank – who all reaffirmed their organizations’ commitment to empowering women through awareness, health, and financial inclusion.
